What is Mental Fitness? An Introduction and 3-Months Free Access to New Tool

Mental fitness isn’t one of those health crazes that’s likely to go out of fashion in a month or two, It’s a structured approach to looking after your mind that’s almost instinctual, and the only really new thing about it is that it now has a name.

Just like physical fitness is the practice of doing things to keep our bodies fit, mental fitness is the practice of doing things to keep our minds healthy. But this isn’t a case of staving off cognitive decline or increasing IQ – it’s the little everyday things we do on purpose to feel better, happier, or more relaxed.

A successful mental fitness routine is unique to every individual. Some people unwind with jigsaw puzzles, some with playing an instrument, and some dress up in medieval garb and take part in epic larping battles in a nearby forest. Anything that gets you away from your everyday screen-heavy routine can be a mental fitness activity. All you need to do is go out there and explore.

And luckily, there are tools for inspiration out there if you want to get out of your comfort zone. One of the best ones out there is Minderful, an audio-based app that’s building a treasury of ideas to try for your mental fitness. They have an excellent track record of getting people to try something new, like birdwatching or journalling, so give it a go and see where the journey takes you.
