Lots of exciting events have been happening around the country at our branches. Read all about them here!
QUB Nutritank Branch: On the 24th January we held a “Men and Mental Health“ talk which we co-hosted with Mind Matters, a psychology society at Queen’s. Dr David Coyle, Consultant Psychiatrist working in the Adult Eating Disorder Services in the Belfast Trust talked about ED services and barriers preventing men from accessing services, as well as things that we can do as individual and collective HCPs to improve access and discussion on eating disorders in those who identify as male.
A third year medical student spoke about his own experiences with anorexia and how gym culture can have both a positive and negative impact on EDs; and Nicola Armstrong, the National Officer for Beat in Northern Ireland spoke about the charity Beat and the support and resources they can offer. This was a brilliant event attended by over 40 students and we received very positive feedback from the session.
Meanwhile, on the same day St Andrews Nutritank branch enjoyed “breakfast on the beach” with homemade porridge.
Imperial Nutritank branch held a whole host of events – including their first and second Nutrition4Youngsters event! They also have their upcoming ‘nutrivention’ conference at the end of February.
