Trauma Informed Integrated Pain Care (1 CPD Point)
In this presentation I will provide an overview of trauma informed healthcare and what that means to us practicing medicine and looking after patients in the post covid era. The new neuroscience of pain alongside trauma informed lens can help us better appreciate the treatments to help patients in pain. I will conclude by offering some case studies and how to provide more personalised recommendations where possible and offer some future perspectives.

Professor Dr Deepak Ravindran
Dr Deepak Ravindran has over 20 years of experience in Pain Managment and is a full time NHS Consultant in Pain Medicine at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Berkshire, UK. He is one of the very few consultants in the UK who holds triple certification in musculoskeleral, pain medicine and lifestyle medicine. He lecturers nationally and internationally on issue on Longcovid, Pain medicine and trauma informed practive and has regularly spoken to the media and television on these issues. He helped establish the award-winning community pain service in Berkshire (IPASS) in 2015 and the Berkshire Longcovid Integrated Services (BLIS) in 2020. He is an active physician researcher and part of the Pain Research Network at the University of Reading. He is the CMO for the digital rehabilitation platform, Boutros Bear, which focusses on supporting a patient in navigating the journey through chronic illnesses such as chronic pain, cancer and menopause. Dr Deepak Ravindran is the author is Amazon Best Seller “The Pain Free Mindset” with a recent audiobook release in 2024. This book is aimed at patients suffering with pain but also immensely useful for all healthcare professionals in understanding all the recent advances around pain management in trauma informed integrative manner. He brings that integrative holistic approach to the bedside in caring and providing a personalised plan for this patients.
